This year we decided to support 3 local charities, one per week, during our Summer Production, “Rhythms of the Nile” held in the Main Tent at the Shakespeare Festival Site. Our dancers spent weeks contacting local companies to obtain donations for 3 beautiful gift baskets that were then raffled off during the evening. DancEgypt committed to contributing $1 from each ticket sale as well. We invited a representative from the charity to talk to the audience about their cause, and as a result, all left with more knowledge and understanding than when we first came in. We asked our dancers for their nominations for the charities and they came through with 3 wonderful organizations.
As a result, on July 14 we raised $284 for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation; July 21 we raised $488 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and on July 29 we raised $484 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for a total of $1,256 for these worthwhile causes.
Thank you for coming out to support DancEgypt and our beautiful dancers, and these charities. Don’t forget to make plans to come next year!
